National Kazakh Day Reception
Friday 1st November Chris Jackson (UKTAG) and Rob Grinnall (UKECP) were invited by His Excellency Magzhan Ilyassov Ambassador of Kazakhstan to celebrate the National Day at The RAC club in London.
Some 200 people attended a magnificent celebration where the achievements of the relationship between the UK and Kazakhstan were remembered. Speeches were given by HE Ambassador Magzhan Ilyassov and HE HMA Kathy Leach even mentioned the agricultural achievements in her recorded message from Astana. Rupert Goodman DL spoke of the work of The British Kazakh Society and read a message from HM King Charles III.
Representing agriculture in such a varied theatre of guests is an honour and shows what can be achieved in direct discussions between UKECP, UKTAG and Embassy staff. The British Kazakh Society plays a pivotal role in this relationship and the webinars and meetings arranged cannot be overplayed and Rob is especially privileged to be a member of their agribusiness group.
It was a pleasure to meet with Baroness Nicholson of Winterbourne again who is still a tremendous advocate for the relationship between the two countries.
There was a display of national foods, artwork and music. The traditional costumes on display were especially impressive.
Rob is not tall, but these two warriors were huge; he did feel like a character from a Tolkien film!
