Kazakhstan Hereford cattle breeders visited the United Kingdom from 21 -23 June looking for genetics to improve their industry
The British embassy in Astana working with UKTAG and the UK Hereford Breed Society organised an inward mission for senior members of the Kazakh Hereford Chamber starting with a visit to the Royal Highland show where they saw some of the very best cattle that the United Kingdom could supply in addition to suppliers of equipment which is also very much in demand in their country.
Friday the group travelled to Tewkesbury where they were met by Susan Stewart export manager from AHDB who gave them an overview of the British beef industry
Saturday the group visited 3 herds of pedigree Hereford cattle in and around Worcestershire.
Sunday Genus.plc took the group to visit one of their breed assessment farms where an explanation was given on how they evaluate and test their cattle and then after lunch the group had the opportunity to look at some more pedigree beef cattle
Monday the group visited Cogent ltd where they saw the AI station and were given an overview of the breeding work undertaken, then went to see one of their breeding farms.
Tuesday the official part of the visit was wound up by visiting the JCB factory in Staffordshire where they saw cutting edge technology being developed for their world leading machinery
The delegates were really impressed with the whole programme that the Embassy, UKTAG and Hereford society had organised for them supported by the AgriTech team from DBT London
Now that the UK has established friendship with the with the Kazak Hereford Chamber our Hereford Breed Society will continue to build on the relationship to benefit both countries.
I look forward to being able to report on more success stories because of this mission.
