AGRI INNOVATION SUMMIT Bishkek 2024

The British Embassy in Kyrgystan proposes to run a two-day event designed to foster knowledge sharing and showcase cutting-edge British agri-tech innovations and standards. The event aims to provide a platform for introducing UK agri-tech capabilities to key stakeholders in the Eastern Europe and Central Asia (EECA) region. It will also facilitate potential partnerships and business opportunities between UK companies and EECA agricultural stakeholders.

Target audience: Initial engagement in Kyrgyzstan has generated strong interest, particularly from The Association for the Development of the Agro-Industrial Complex (which includes 150 top agricultural stakeholders) and the Kyrgyzstan Dairy Union. There is additional interest from neighbouring countries, including Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan, based on scoping conversations with regional colleagues. Furthermore, the Kyrgyz Ministry of Agriculture is expected to participate, providing an opportunity for discussions on industry regulation and policy alignment.

The event will take place over two days in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

– Day 1: Presentations from leading UK agri-tech experts and companies, highlighting innovative technologies, sustainable practices, and UK standards in the agricultural sector.

– Day 2: Topical roundtable discussions will focus on specific areas of interest identified by EECA stakeholders, allowing for in-depth dialogue and knowledge exchange. The day will also include opportunities for follow-up meetings with UK companies to explore potential partnerships or collaborative projects.

Initial topics of discussion may include but are not limited to:

  • sustainable agricultural practices
  • climate-resilient crops and farming methods
  • advanced farming technologies (precision agriculture, automation)
  • quality control for milk on farms and immediate post-farm
  • on-farm antibiotics testing kits
  • manure use (e.g. biogas plants from manure to power tractors)
  • livestock monitoring and observation (e.g. use of drones to watch the herds)
  • pasture management (e.g. rotation, grasses, water, fly control, supplementary feeding).
  • artificial insemination incl. heat detection
  • mobile milking parlours

The event is scheduled for the week commencing 2nd December.
